Wreaths and Ferns
. My home is not only my sanctuary, it is the muse for my art. That thing driving me to wrangle a hank of brass wire into a ring of flora-studded vines comes from the same place which permits me to grow our gardens unruly and wild. Every spring I witness the emergence of the sea of ferns that fills the center of my yard. Planted as a single fern almost 30 years ago, I get to observe the awakening of a now populous fern bed and every nuance of its growth from its hidden earthen dormancy into the spritely green cathedrals that crowd panes of light into shadow. When making a Fern Wreath, I work the stems and fronds up and out from the base, imitating the way a fern might sprout from the earth. I build a series of loops into my wreaths, leaving space for you to add your own touch of greens and flowers throughout the year, through any season.
